Quay wall along company site in Alphen aan den Rijn
A robust water retention system was needed for a company located adjacent to a wide ditch in Alphen aan den Rijn. Our L retaining walls were used here over a length of over 70 metres providing the company with a sturdy and strong quay wall.
Water retention system
A water retention system made from retaining walls holds back water and prevents flooding. Depending on its location, a water retention system provides protection against high water levels as in this case in Alphen aan den Rijn. As water generates huge pressures and forces it is important that the retaining wall is strong enough to hold back the water.
As traffic also drives along the quay, the wall needed to be able to withstand heavy loads and recesses were incorporated within the walls to install drainage pipes. This sturdy water retention system made from concrete prefabricated retaining walls prevents the soil from crumbling and the water having free rein.
Long-term collaboration
Gebr. Olieman approached us to supply the retaining walls to create this quay wall. Bosch Beton already had over twenty-five years of good collaboration with Gebr. Olieman. We used eighteen L retaining walls of 3 metres high over a length of 70 metres for this project.
