A new park was realised in 2019 including four apartment complexes: Kolenpark. A ramp needed to be constructed to reach the road from the park. And space had to be created to install an underground waste container. De Waard Grondverzet from Zeewolde approached Bosch Beton to develop a retaining wall solution for the construction.
4-metre-high L Retaining walls with heel were placed over a length of some 35 metres. Some customisation was needed for the correct placement of the walls. The walls were bevelled, shortened and recesses were created to ensure good connections.
Kolenpark is located on Europapark in Groningen. Four apartment complexes with a total of 139 homes are heated and cooled via Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage. The apartment complexes are a WarmteStad initiative (a partnership between the Municipality of Groningen and Waterbedrijf Groningen), which is working towards an affordable and sustainable future.
