Retaining walls used again for Medtronic’s expansion in Heerlen
We supplied L retaining walls with heel in various sizes for the expansion of Medtronic in Heerlen. The walls serve as terrain fencing and absorb height difference. Our long-term cooperation with Hecker resulted in our walls being placed again in Heerlen.
Medtronic is one of world’s largest medical technology companies. The company develops healthcare solutions to address global healthcare challenges. The expansion of the Heerlen location required height difference to be absorbed and terrain fencing. Hecker, an infra, demolition and recycling company, was responsible for the construction.
In five phases, we delivered over 300 L retaining walls with heel in heights varying from 100 to 300 cm high. The required customisation was implemented in advance to ensure that placement ran smoothly. The retaining walls serve as an earth retention system to absorb height difference as the site is at a lower level. As a finishing touch, fencing was fitted against the walls surrounding the site.
We have enjoyed good cooperation with Hecker for a number of years and Bosch Beton had already delivered retaining walls for a previous expansion of Medtronic. One of our advantages is that we can supply a huge range from stock and these same retaining walls are available should further expansion be needed. These walls will be a great match for previously placed walls.
Long service life
The L retaining wall with heel was developed especially for medium load applications in civil engineering. The rear is at right angles, creating a good dimensionally stable straight retaining wall after placement. With a service life of at least fifty years, our standard retaining walls are also a sustainable solution.
