Retaining walls as partition and noise barrier at theme park
Various retaining walls absorb height differences at BillyBird Park Hemelrijk theme park in Volkel. The walls also serve as a barrier against any noise nuisance. Low retaining walls were then placed to provide a good separation between the beach and grass. Reasons for opting for Bosch Beton included dimensional stability and the walls’ clean and sleek finish.
A passage to the new area on BillyBird Hemelrijk theme park was created by partially truncating a hill. Gebr. van den Brand en van Oort B.V. from Uden opted to place retaining walls here to absorb various height differences, quickly bridging the heights while also creating a clean and sleek partition. Building with retaining walls is quick and the walls also have a long lifespan.
Embankment
2.5-metre-high L Retaining walls with heel were placed over a length of some 100 metres to construct an embankment. The earth that was in front of the retaining walls was deposited on the other side of the walls to create an embankment, where the park owner was able to realise an area for family and corporate events.
Separation of sand and grass
Gebr. van den Brand en Van Oort also placed retaining walls near the beach volleyball court where the embankment slopes down considerably. A creative solution was needed to bridge the height difference. This solution is effective and looks neat. They laid a partition using very low retaining walls of 50 cm high to separate the sandy beach and grass and keep the area looking neat and tidy.
Noise barrier
As well as terrain fencing retaining walls can also be used as a noise barrier. Using 5 metres high L retaining walls with heel, the Uden-based company created a partition between the park and its neighbours. This also serves as a noise barrier. As a good partition is now already present, a terrace will be constructed against the retaining walls at a height of around 2.5 metres.
Our Engineering team provided the drawings for this project. Some walls were first modified via mitring and our team also offered support during placement.
Collaboration
Gebr. van den Brand en Van Oort has worked previously with Bosch Beton and is delighted with the retaining walls. Plus points include the walls’ high dimensional stability, sleek finish and the completely flat base which is a great advantage when positioning the walls. If the sand bed is flat and stable, the walls will immediately stand straight.
The owner of BillyBird Park Hemelrijk theme park in Volkel is delighted with the final result. The project was completed according to requirements and meets all their expectations. The good cooperation with Bosch Beton and fast delivery certainly contributed to this.
