German bull farmer a Bosch Beton customer for over 12 years
Henrik Krone’s bull farm in Merzen-Westeroden is family-owned and has a long history. The Krone family has been a Bosch Beton customer for over 12 years now and in 2022 again opted for new Bosch Beton silage clamps to significantly increase their roughage storage.
Long history
The Krone family’s bull farm was established many years ago by Henrik Krone’s father. He started raising a few bulls across the street at the original Westerodener Mühlenbach watermill. The farm expanded over the years to become a major bull farm and is now run by the family’s second generation, Henrik Krone, although his father is still there on the sidelines, helping his son on the farm every day.
Roughage storage expansion
Krone invested in an 80-metre-long Bosch Beton silage clamp in 2011, constructed using 40 L250HAK elements. As the bull farm’s herd had expanded considerably over the years, 11 years later they made new plans to build two new silage clamps, one of which was put into operation that same year, with the second being built for the 2023 grass season.
Various wall heights were used to absorb height difference at the Krone farmyard. Bosch Beton’s engineering team designed the silage clamps with four different wall heights so they could still create level 3-metre roughage storage in the hilly landscape. The two silage clamps were constructed using retaining walls from the LA300 range, combined with U300HAK elements with stairs. LR225S and LR250S retaining walls were then placed on the back of the silage clamps to create a rear wall that you can drive over. Finally, an LA250S element absorbs height difference at the silage clamp’s rear entrance so that attractive paving could be laid against it. Six retaining walls were bevelled in our factory to meet the customer’s requirements. Henrik Krone also invested in a high-quality cover that he attaches to the silage clamp using lashing straps, making it easy to cover the silage clamp and ensuring optimal roughage preservation.
