Asphalt in the silage clamp: durable and acid resistant

A heavy load and the impact of corrosive substances have a negative impact on the floor of your silage clamp or yard surfacing. Our client had the Bosch Beton silo clamp lined with asphalt for a durable and acid-resistant top layer.

Our client’s dairy farm of almost 90 hectares is home to 140 cows. The dairy farmer wants to prepare for the future and keep control of costs, which is why the farm had already purchased a silage clamp with our L retaining walls last year.

For this year’s grass harvest the farmer wanted to install another silo next to the one installed last year. The owners created a so-called U-wall between the two silage clamps themselves by leaving the space between the L retaining wall heels free.

Yard surfacing

The farmer had the silage clamp lined with acid-resistant asphalt, which prevents the floor from corroding. As this asphalt top layer is durable and acid-proof it generally has a longer service life than concrete slabs. However, every situation is different.
