Retaining walls as basis for versatile outdoor fitness park
The football club Rigtersbleek in Enschede, the Netherlands, contacted Vario Fields to create an outdoor fitness park where young and old could go to exercise. They used their expertise in outdoor spaces to create a multifunctional fitness park. Retaining walls of various heights form the basis of this park, which has created a challenging sports environment.
From football club to versatile meeting space
In recent years, the traditional Rigtersbleek football club has transformed itself into a future-oriented sports, fitness and meeting space. Aside from various football fields, the club in Enschede offers a climbing forest and a beach volleyball field, and now also has a multifunctional outdoor fitness park. This park is used for a wide range of activities that contribute to motor development, such as running training, rehabilitation programs and technique training. The football club contacted Vario Fields for the design and implementation of this fitness park.
Fields of Happiness by Vario
Vario Fields has specialised in the comprehensive design of recreative outdoor spaces for almost 20 years. They design and implement colourful, safe and sustainable projects in outdoor spaces. To guarantee the sustainability of the new fitness park in Enschede, Vario Fields contacted Bosch Beton to create the basis for the park. Their contact was motivated by an earlier project in which they implemented a fitness park in Lichtenvoorde.
Changes in elevation and fencing
Bosch Beton was engaged to supply and install all of the retaining walls required for this project. L-retaining walls with heel, varying from 1 metre to 2.5 metres in height, were used for this project. The use of retaining walls of varying heights made it possible to create slopes, which provide an ideal surface for agility and running exercises. Fencing was mounted on the walls, to ensure proper separation.
