Foam solutions for sports and industry

Schmitz Foam is a family business that has been involved in the production of high-quality XPE foam solutions for four generations. Their foam products are used to provide impact-absorbing underlays for sports fields and playgrounds, and are also used for industrial applications, such as packaging and insulation. With a strong focus on sustainability, their recycling division gives residual foam a second life. For the redevelopment of their outdoor premises, Schmitz Foam was looking for a solution that would function as terrain fencing, as well as provide an efficient storage solution – an issue that Bosch Beton solved by installing retaining walls perpendicularly on an inclined surface.

Perpendicular retaining wall for tight storage

L350HAK retaining walls, including various corner elements, were used on Schmitz Foam’s premisses to fence off the terrain. Aside from this, part of the project consisted of the construction of a loading dock whereby L175HAK retaining walls were used. The retaining walls were placed at an incline, thus creating a perpendicular inner wall. This customised approach ensures that the lightweight foam products produced by Schmitz can be stored tightly up against the wall.

Customised implementation

Bosch Beton looked after the placement of the retaining walls and actively contributed ideas for the custom work required for this project. The inclined substrate created a complex situation, particularly in the corners, which required special custom-cut elements. The smart production customisation work and the meticulous preparation of the substrate by Derikx Infra, made it possible to efficiently place the retaining walls.
